Jaden Smith for Louis Vuitton Womenswear Line

Jaden Smith has been known to wear skirts. That is not news. Most recently, though, he has been making headlines for his new campaign ad. Jaden was named as the new face for Louis Vuitton. That may not be a shocking thing, except he is the face for womenswear. Yup. You read right. Jaden Smith will lead Louis Vuitton’s womenswear campaign. It is being questioned as to why he was chosen to represent this campaign. According to Louis Vuitton’s creative director, Nicholas Ghesquiere, it is because Jaden “represents a generation that lives by the code of true freedom, one that is free of manifestos and questions about gender.”  Jaden states that he is only expressing himself on how he feels inside with no other reason behind it. He is sending society a message. However, it is one of individuality and freedom of expression.

New York Fashion Week

It is that time of year when models graze the catwalk with top designer outfits. It’s none other than New York Fashion Week. Although NYFW doesn’t officially kick off until tomorrow, it is not too early to let you be aware of the topics that are sure to make an impression. First is model diversity. The runways will not only feature pale-white models, but will incorporate black models (part of the Black Models Matter concept). This is definitely a plus for the Fashion industry. Next we have what could be considered the new “it” girl. Her name is Kaia Gerber. She is none other than Cindy Crawford’s daughter. Kaia is to model for Alexander Wang’s 2016 Spring campaign. Two more big trends you are likely to see on the catwalk will be the concept of wild and bold beauty looks for the models as well as the all-denim look. I for one am curious to see how designers will make the all-denim concept unique. Last but not least we have Milk-Milk makeup that is. Milk Studios is said to launch their Milk Makeup collection during NYFW. It is Milk’s first direct-to-consumer product line. If the launch is successful, Milk could be the leading path to the fashion world for young adults.

As of Sunday January 28, Matel announced their new collection of Barbie Dolls. They would no longer neglect to add more realistic dolls. The new Barbie Dolls are going to possess different body sizes (tall, petite, and curvy), skin tones, and hair styles. This is a big change for Matel. They also stated they would not include overweight dolls because they believe that obesity is not something to be promoted. As the spokeswoman, Michelle Chidoni, says “it is a better reflection of what girls see in the world around them”. Bridal Week 2016

Bridal week took us by storm. So much white, such good lace, florals, sparkles and shine. This was not a season for classics, although most designers had one or two neutral options, they mostly opted for a very modern look. Vera Wang did not shy away from see-through fabrics and bared it all out behind beautifully patterned tulle. Carolina Herrera kept classy but sensual, and Marchesa showed some daring cleavage. There will be some lucky ladies those tying the knot next fall.

Nail Trends

Fashion Week is all over the news. Designers are giving it their best this year, tons of color, amazing designs, beautiful shoes, and fun accessories. And thanks to bloggers and photographers back stage, we can now see what in past decades we had no real access to: nails. Sure you know they are well done, but there was no real emphasis on them, due to the fact that no one could really see them up close. This year, nails are a big part of the ensemble, from nude-with-a-twist, to all the way outrageous and metallic. Here are some of the most fun and pretty, that will no dubt be trending in a couple months from now.

Emmy’s Best Dressed

This has not been an easy job. Somehow unexpectedly, there were too many amazing looking gals walking down the Red Carpet this evening. It was hard enough to see through the very handsome men and concentrate on the beautiful dresses, but thanks to a very colourful scheme, featuring hot pink, yellows, and even greens, it was impossible to miss the entirety of the fashion show that just happened. Sadly, we cannot show every pretty dress, but we will do our best to show you the best curated selection of them.
